WKU Forensics Team wins Illinois tournament

The Western Kentucky University Forensics Team placed first at a virtual competition hosted by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on Saturday, February 5. In team sweepstakes WKU placed first ahead of North Central College, Northern Illinois University, and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
This weekend, one portion of the team will compete in the Spring AFA District tournament, while another group will split duties hosting and participating in the 2022 Kentucky Forensics Association State Championship Tournament. Both competitions will be held virtually.
Results from the Illini Tournament are as follows:
- After Dinner Speaking: Dakota Perry of Morehead, Kentucky, 4th; Danielle Williams of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, 5th.
- Communication Analysis: Jonah Johnson of Burnsville, Minnesota, 1st; Collin Tuerk of Morehead, Kentucky, 2nd; Christian Butterfield of Bowling Green, Kentucky, 3rd.
- Impromptu Speaking: Dakota Perry, 3rd.
- Persuasive Speaking: Jaleon Brown of Raytown, Missouri, 1st.
- Prose Interpretation: Rashon Leday of Lafayette, Louisiana, 1st; Samantha Sallee of Danville, Kentucky, 2nd; Dakota Perry, 6th.
