What is your professional and educational background?  
I received my masters degree in counseling and my doctorate in school psychology. I have worked in hospitals (both inpatient and outpatient clinics), community mental health, summer programs, and schools. I am certified as a school psychologist at the state and national level, and I am a licensed psychologist in KY. 

Why did you choose this field of study?  
I became a school psychologist because of the many different roles we get to have. School psychology is a great fit for someone who is interested in working with children, adolescents, and families to address academic, behavioral, and mental health needs through assessment, intervention, and consultation. I like the flexibility, the emphasis on data-based decision making, and the opportunity to make a difference for our families, schools, and communities. 

What do you love most about WKU?
I was drawn to the student-centered climate at WKU from the moment I stepped foot on campus. WKU is full of kind people who truly care about the wellbeing and success of our students. I am constantly impressed by how faculty and staff show up for members of the WKU family. 

What is your favorite part about teaching?  
Teaching is my favorite part of my job and of my week. I most enjoy witnessing student growth from the beginning to the end of a semester. Students are often capable of learning and applying more than they think. I also like that information and knowledge evolve so teaching forces me to stay current and to be a life-long learner.
