The US Bank Celebration of the Arts exhibition opened February 26 at the Kentucky Museum and runs until April 8.
Thank you to the 177 artists who made work during the challenges offered by the past year and entered it in the 2022 Celebration of the Arts. This year’s show includes 48 amateur and 129 professional works, with 11 WKU alumni, 15 WKU faculty and staff, and 38 WKU students entering their works. The remaining 113 works are from artists in Bowling Green and the surrounding area.
The art show originated in US Bank’s downtown office several years prior to its current location at the Kentucky Museum. According to Regional President Craig Browning, it had outgrown the facility and needed a new venue large enough to house the growing display of art. With the capacity to hold larger exhibits, Browning approached Kentucky Museum officials about the possibility of taking ownership of Celebration of the Arts. The exhibit has been housed at the Kentucky Museum ever since and remains one of our region’s premiere events showcasing the exceptional artistry alive in our community.
This year's winners include:
- Best of Show - Blessed are the Cheesemakers by Todd Fife
- World's Greatest Studio Tour Merit Award - Queen Mother by Tatum Bratcher
- Artworks Merit Award - Slice by Sadie Seymour
- Kentucky Museum Purchase Award - Here I'm Happy by Elizabeth Hoffman
The exhibit is open Wednesday through Saturday, 9am to 4pm, at the Kentucky Museum. For information, call (270) 745-2592.
