The Kentucky Museum invites our community to experience new exhibits and enter to win summer fun prize packs during our Open House on Friday, June 3, from 5 pm to 7pm. 

Visitors will discover new exhibitions including Crazy Quilt Mania and Nuestro hogar Kentucky, Our Kentucky Home: Hispanic/Latin American Visual Art in the Commonwealth. Visitors will also have the chance to win door prizes, including items such as:

• Summer Fun for Two Pack including 2 one-day tickets to Holiday World, a LetsRoam Date Night Scavenger Hunt Pack for 2 good to any city, and an Adventures from Scratch: Date Night Edition book.
• Night at the Ballpark Pack including a $30 Roosters Gift Card and a 4-pack of tickets to a Bowling Green Hot Rods 2022 game.
• BG Fun Pack, including tickets to the Historic Railpark & Train Museum, tickets to the Corvette Museum, a LetsRoam Family Scavenger Hunt Pack for up to 10 people, and an Adventures from Scratch: Family Edition book.
• Lexington Fun Pack, including a 4-pack of ticekts to Kentucky Horse Park and a LetsRoam Family Scavenger Hunt Pack for up to 10 people.

Nuestro hogar Kentucky, Our Kentucky Home: Hispanic/Latin American Visual Art in the Commonwealth will premiere during the Open House. The exhibit features 30+ works by 20 Kentuckians of Hispanic or Latin American heritage. 

Additionally, visitors can see the recently opened Crazy Quilt Mania, which showcases 23 crazy quilts from the Museum’s permanent collection, as well as examples of related textile and non-textile fancywork, illustrations, and advertisements. Crazy quilts emerged in the United States during the late nineteenth century. Stitchery from London’s Royal School of Art Needlework as well as the display of Japanese arts and crafts at the Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition of 1876 inspired women across America to take up their needles in new and different ways. 

Also on view will be exhibitions featuring Mammoth Cave National Park, fashion entrepreneur Carrie Burnam Taylor, artifacts from Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia, Duncan Hines, the art installation Coral Reefs, the museum's collection of Contemporary Art prints, and Facing the Freshmen Year: Essential Conversations. 

Visitors will also be invited to learn about the Museum for All Fund, an initiative to establish permanent free admission at the Kentucky Museum. An information and donation station will be available for visitors to contribute to the museum's SpiritFunder campaign to establish the fund.

The Open House will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 3, at the Kentucky Museum, located at 1444 Kentucky Street. Parking is available in the lots Kentucky Street and Adams Street lots surrounding the Museum and adjacent to CVS.
