- Thursday, July 21st, 2022
Dr. Monica Galloway Burke, Professor in the Department of Counseling and Student Affairs, co-edited a book, Contemporary Issues within Caribbean Economies (Palgrave MacMillan) with Dr. Colin Cannonier, Associate Professor of Economics at Belmont University.
The book focuses on the Caribbean economy which remains a region with many paradoxes. This edited volume takes a closer look at the contemporary issues related to the economies of the Caribbean. The book provides an added dimension in that each of the chapters includes the contributions of a scholar with lived experiences in and knowledge of the region. Indeed, the book underscores the detailed evidence-based research and perspectives on topics providing insights into the current landscape of the Caribbean. Ultimately, understanding the Caribbean in its varied contexts is an important milestone in pursuing policies that will contribute to flourishing economies replete with sustained growth and development.
Dr. Burke is also the lead author for Helping Skills for Working with College Students: Applying Counseling Theory to Student Affairs Practice and Helping College Students in Distress: A Faculty Guide, a co-author for Mindful Strategies for Helping Students Manage Stress, and a co-editor for three volumes of No Ways Tired: The Journey for Professionals of Color in Student Affairs.
