CASHA member receives $495K for nonprofit Create Circles

CASHA member receives $495K for nonprofit Create Circles

Harsh Moolani, a 2016 WKU Gatton Academy graduate and member of the WKU Center for Applied Science in Health and Aging (CASHA), along with his nonprofit Create Circles, received $495K in Civil Money Penalty funds from the Commonwealth of Kentucky to advance its mission of combatting loneliness and social isolation among older adults in long-term care facilities. With this funding, the Create Circles team will expand their innovative volunteer program, which aims to craft a sense of purpose among older adults, across nursing homes in Kentucky. Create Circles pairs older adults at home, in retirement communities, and long-term care with trained student volunteers.

Dr. Jason Crandall, Co-founder of CASHA, said, “WKU and CASHA are excited to see the impactful work being done by a former student and current CASHA member. Create Circles is truly making a difference in the lives of older adults across Kentucky.”

The center identifies, develops, and mobilizes social and health innovations in applied research by enhancing well-being, performance, and functioning in the aging community.
