This morning, suspicious material was located in the vicinity of Cherry Hall on campus. Out of an abundance of caution, buildings in the area were evacuated and all classes suspended until ATF disposed of the material. Responding agencies determined that it was construction related and posed no threat to students, campus or the broader WKU community. The all clear for WKU’s campus was issued at 12:07 p.m.
While authorities were investigating the object near Cherry Hall, an anonymous post on the social media platform Yik Yak made reference to a bomb threat in PS2. Working with Yik Yak, WKU PD identified a person of interest. The individual admitted that the threat was not legitimate and was taken into custody. After searching PS2, officers found no evidence of a bomb.
