The Western Kentucky University Board of Regents conducted committee meetings on Friday, October 21.
The Academic Affairs Committee approved the following Emeritus Appointments:
- Dr. Doris Sikora, Associate Professor of Applied Human Sciences
- Dr. Steven Spencer, Professor of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport
- Dr. Catherine Algeo, Professor of Earth, Environmental, and Atmospheric Sciences
- Dr. Theodore Hovet, Professor of English
- Dr. Glenn LaFantasie, Professor of History
In order to be recommended for emeritus status, a faculty member must have served the university for at least 10 years and have had distinguished records of achievement and service.
The Finance and Budget Committee approved a number of routine personnel actions. Additionally, the Committee approved filing a recent statement of revenue and expenditures. Personnel expenses, which include employee salaries and fringe benefits, have increased approximately $2 million, due to a 1.5% salary increase as well as increases resulting from the university’s recent compensation analysis. The Finance and Budget Committee also approved the renewal of a $10 million line of credit from Truist Bank, to be used only if the timing of revenue collection does not match expense payment timing.
The Executive Committee approved addendums to the contracts of the university’s men’s and women’s head basketball coaches. The Committee also received a Conference USA update from President Timothy C. Caboni, as well as an update about WKU’s Innovation Campus from Dr. Buddy Steen, President of the WKU Research Foundation.
All committee approvals will be presented to the full Board of Regents for approval during its fourth quarterly meeting of 2022 on December 8.
