Gordon Ford College of Business Dean Recognized for His Outstanding Service

The Southern Management Association (SMA) has awarded Dr. Christopher Shook, Dean of the Gordon Ford College of Business, the James G. Hunt SMA Sustained Outstanding Service Award (Hunt SOSA Award).
The award was given at SMA's Annual Conference in Little Rock, Arkansas. It is considered SMA's highest honor and most prestigious award.
"I am extremely honored and humbled to receive the James G. Hunt Sustained Outstanding Service Award, SMA gave me the opportunity to develop as a scholar and leader, and prepared me to be Dean at GFCB,” said Shook.
Shook is a Southern Management fellow who has been very involved with the Southern Management Association. His activities include serving on the Board of Directors, being elected into the officer rotation (including Program Chair and President), and Doctoral Student Consortium Co-Coordinator. In addition, Shook served on the Journal of Management Liaison Committee, the Journal of Management Editor Selection Committee, and as Senior Associate Editor for the Journal of Management.
Shook has served as Dean of the Gordon Ford College of Business since 2019. He holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Louisiana State University. His research interest includes methodological issues in strategy and entrepreneurship research, exploration of entrepreneurial opportunities, and strategic decision-making processes. Shook's research has been cited more than 10,000 times. He was twice a Fulbright Scholar in Romania and a visiting professor in France.
Under Shook's leadership, the Gordon Ford College of Business has navigated teaching during the COVID-19 Pandemic, revised its business core curriculum, and seen record enrollment and retention across the College. He is now overseeing the design and construction of a new $74.4 business building.
