Bowling Green, Kentucky (November 2, 2022) – The Center for Gifted Studies at Western Kentucky University is now accepting registrations for the newly formed Talent Identification Program of Kentucky (TIP-KY^SM). Middle school students in grades 7 and 8, who sign up for TIP-KY, will take an above-level test through ACT, receive a comprehensive report from IDEAL Solutions®, have the opportunity to attend an annual recognition ceremony at WKU with qualifying scores, and be offered continued enrichment and educational programs through The Center for Gifted Studies.

During the fall of 2020, the Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP) closed its program, leaving a void in talent development for high-ability young people in numerous states. “We are so pleased to offer this opportunity to the students within the state of Kentucky as well as other places where talent searches are not currently available,” said Dr. Julia Roberts, executive director for The Center of Gifted Studies at WKU. “Since the announcement of Duke TIP’s closure, we have been working with other centers across the country and ACT to develop and bring this opportunity to students.”

TIP-KY also provides talent identification opportunities for students in grades 4-6. To be eligible for the program, it is recommended that students have scored in the top 10% in at least one subject area in a grade-level assessment to participate in TIP-KY and the above-level testing.
