Hardin Planetarium to host 'Take a Pic Through a Telescope'
- Hardin Planetarium
- Friday, February 17th, 2023
At 6 p.m. February 27, WKU’s Hardin Planetarium will host Take a Pic Through a Telescope, a free, public activity to take your own photographs through provided telescopes, featuring guest host Rico Tyler.
Both telescopes and cameras can see more than can your eye, so combining the two can prove powerful. Most smartphones have decent quality digital cameras, so any guest will be able to take photograph through the provided telescopes and share the results with friends and family. Tyler has taught astronomy for many years, and has taken many smartphone photographs via telescopes.
In addition to telescopes for guests to use, the event also provides adaptors to allow guests to easily align their smartphone cameras with telescope eyepieces. The event will end by 8 p.m.
Along with special events, Hardin Planetarium offers free presentations to the public every Tuesday and Thursday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. The current show, Invisible Universe, explains that most of our universe is invisible to human eyes, and explores why we have different types of telescopes to see this invisible universe. Invisible Universe will continue through March 28 followed by MoonBeings through May 11. A full schedule of shows is available on the planetarium's website at https://www.wku.edu/hardinplanetarium/
