Invitation to Apply to Faculty Leadership Year (FLY)
- Thursday, February 9th, 2023
Dear Colleagues,
I am glad to announce a revival of the Faculty Leadership Year (FLY) and invite you to apply for this program.
FLY is a professional development opportunity for mid-level faculty (associate rank and above) who are interested in exploring and pursuing academic leadership roles within their college or the university as a next step in their career. The program is founded on the principles of improving student success and increasing knowledge and understanding of equity, diversity and inclusive practices.
FLY is offered in two phases and applications are now open for Phase I. Phase I is a fast-paced, four-week intensive leadership immersion experience from May 16 through June 8, 2023, meeting two times each week from 9-11 am. A group of 12-15 faculty members will be chosen to make up the new leadership class this year.
To apply and read more about FLY, please see the program's website. Please email your questions to Drs. Margie DeSander and Marko Dumančić.
Sincerely,
Robert "Bud" Fischer
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
