TRIO Student Support Services, Disabilities (SSS-D) is partnering with Texas Roadhouse for the “SSS-D Student of the Month” that will allow SSS-D to showcase the excellence it sees in students every day.
“Partnering with a great brand like Texas Roadhouse gives our students a unique opportunity to be highlighted on another level,” said Jimmie Martin, Director of the TRIO SSS-D. “Not only will our students be showcased in the SSS-D office and on our social media platforms, but they will also have their pictures up in the restaurant and on their social media platforms. And they will get a free meal in addition to the recognition. What more can a college student ask for?”
SSS-D students can be nominated online by other students, faculty, and staff to be recognized as Student of the Month. These nominations will be considered by a selection committee, and those selected will be recognized via social media and receive a free meal from Texas Roadhouse.
TRIO SSS-D students are often first-generation, from a limited-income background, and all have some form of documented disability.
SSS-D student Olivia Feck, a senior majoring in Psychological Sciences, said this partnership is a great way to “advocate and spread awareness about disabilities within the community.”
“It’s hard to find support for the difficulties that come with these disabilities, but SSS-D cares about you and uplifts you,” Feck said.
SSS-D is driven to make every student feel as if they are cared for and uplifted, and this partnership with Texas Roadhouse has given SSS-D another opportunity to bring that feeling to our students.
About SSS-D: SSS-D at WKU is trusted with helping WKU students with a documented disability graduate with their bachelor's degree. Our goals for SSS-D participants are that they will persist from one semester to the next, maintain good academic standing, and graduate with a bachelor's degree.
