Dr. Angela Jerome, Communication Professor, has been named the Assistant Director of the newly merged School of Media & Communication in the Potter College of Arts & Letters (PCAL). This position will start on July 1.
The Assistant Director role will aid the Director with the school’s budget, assist with outreach and recruitment efforts, and work with program coordinators on scheduling and space allocation.
Ultimately, what led Dr. Jerome to pursue this position was its focus on recruitment and retention. She sites her knowledge of curricular development, specifically in the Communication programs, as one of the main strengths she will bring to the role.
“With time away from teaching, I will be able to do a lot of recruiting and retention for the School,” says Dr. Jerome. “Getting out in the community and working with high school kids is what I look forward to starting soon. I am also excited to bring my talents to the scheduling aspect of the position.”
Dr. Jerome graduated from WKU in 1997 with B.A. in Corporate and Organizational Communication. In 2006, she started her career at WKU in the Department of Communication. During her career at WKU, she has served as the Department of Communication representative for the Faculty Senate and the PCAL representative to the Senate Executive Committee.
“Dr. Jerome is a fierce advocate for Communication and a big proponent of the merger,” says School of Media & Communication Director, Ron DeMarse. “She is very passionate about community engagement and a great collaborator. We are excited for her assistance and expertise as the School continues to grow.”
