- Thursday, May 25th, 2023
The Department of Accounting honors three students each year with the Charles H. McAdams Award for Accounting Excellence. The award recognizes the top graduate student and undergraduate senior and junior students with monetary prizes.
The 2023 recipients are undergraduates Riley Richardson ('25) of Louisville, KY, and Mackenzie Clouse ('23) of Somerset, KY, and graduate student, Haley Glass (' 22, '23) of Louisville, KY.
Richardson said the award encourages her to keep working hard toward pursuing a career in accounting: "The Gordon Ford College of Business and its faculty and staff make it possible for students like me to build a strong foundation for their field of choice."
Additionally, Clouse thanked the individuals who played a role in her college experience. "Throughout my time at WKU, the professors and staff within the GFCB, specifically the Accounting Department, have constantly pushed me to be the best student I can be. They have been encouragers along the way and served as role models and mentors."
Glass is a two-time Gordon Ford College of Business alumna. She completed her undergraduate in accounting in December '22 and enrolled in the Accounting Jump Program. Glass graduated with her Master of Accountancy and Data Analysis in May '23. Glass is thankful for the unconditional support she has received during her academic journey. "I am honored to have been selected among many of my accomplished peers to receive this award. The Department of Accounting is unlike any other at WKU, and I am lucky to represent them after studying with so many incredible students and professors."
The 2022 recipients of the Charles H. McAdams Award for Accounting Excellence were Nathan Hood ('23) of Glasgow, KY, Ty Dean ('22) of Hendersonville, TN., and graduate student Garrett Alvey (' 21, '22) of Shepherdsville, KY.
Bryson McAdams established the Charles H. McAdams Award for Accounting Excellence to honor his late father, Charles H. McAdams. Bryson McAdams wanted to recognize his dad's transformative experience as an accounting student at Bowling Green Business University (BU). The "BU" would later merge with WKU and was the predecessor of the Gordon Ford College of Business.
