New T/TAS Executive Director Announced
- Tuesday, June 13th, 2023
T/TAS is thrilled to announce that our very own Infant/Toddler Specialist, Dr. Amy S. Hood has been named Executive Director of T/TAS. Dr. Hood is currently the Director of the Family Child Care Network of Kentucky, the Interim Director for Western Kentucky University Child Care Centers (WKUCCC), and has been a part of the T/TAS family for 34 years.
In her application, Dr. Hood stated that she would never have dreamed of having this opportunity but felt it was the next step in her journey as she has “grown up” at T/TAS. Dr. Hood started with T/TAS as a preschool teacher in 1988 in the Head Start/Child Care program, after graduating with a Child Development degree from Murray State University. In 1992, while earning her Master's degree in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education, Dr. Hood and her teammates opened the Infant/toddler child care portion of the program. In 1996, she was instrumental in the conversion of that child care into an Early Head Start program during the first phase of Early Head Start programs. Soon after, Dr. Hood became the T/TAS Infant/Toddler Specialist conducting regional and nationwide trainings. After attaining her doctorate in Child and Youth Studies from Nova Southeastern University (2003), Dr. Hood also served as an adjunct professor at WKU, taught CDA classes, and has continued training child care, Head Start and Early Head Start staff locally and nationally.
Amy resides on her family farm with her husband and teenage son. She enjoys traveling, watching her son in his many academic/athletic adventures, and spending time with her friends and family, including her bonus daughter who is also in education, teaching first grade, and expecting her first child.
We are excited for the vision that she has for T/TAS and look forward to all the great things to come for our program. Congratulations, Dr. Hood!
