Can ChatGPT help with HR tasks? Seth Hartz is finding out the answer firsthand.
A rising senior from Owensboro, Hartz is exploring the human resources field as an HR intern with Owl's Head Alloys in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Hartz is majoring in Management with a concentration in Human Resources.
As part of his internship, Hartz is researching how ChatGPT can assist HR within the company.
When delving into the possibilities offered by ChatGPT, Hartz highlighted the AI chatbot’s assistance with creatingjob descriptions and streamlining repetitive tasks.
“We are able to plug in various key words into ChatGPT and it gives us a compelling job description for the position we need one for,” Hartz shared.
In addition to experimenting with cutting-edge technologies, Hartz also works with more traditional tasks in the office.
From assisting with the hiring and onboarding process for new employees to collaborating on ideas for employee engagement and retention, Hartz is diving headfirst into the multifaceted world of HR.
Hartz is glad for the experience, which is offering a window into what to expect after graduation. He noted that “this experience will help me in my future career by giving me an idea of what to truly expect and what I am expected to do.”
He also shared that internships are a great tool for figuring out what you feel passionate about pursuing post-graduation.
“Taking an internship isn’t just important for the mere means of the experience and knowledge in your field of choice, but it will also give you the ability to decide rather or not what you have chosen is what you want to do with your life," Hartz explained.
Additionally, Hartz highlighted the benefit of the connections made during an internship experience - even after that internship is over.
“Not only will you gain experience in your desired field, but you will also gain something extremely valuable to you upon graduation - a network that will help you succeed more than you ever thought you could,” Hartz shared.
With his own graduation getting closer, Hartz encourages Hilltoppers to chase their dreams.
As he puts it, “life is too short to daydream of what life may be like in the future. Once an opportunity comes up to better yourself for the future, take it, do not hesitate.”
