Ranjit Koodali named 2023 American Chemical Society Fellow

The American Chemical Society (ACS) has named Dr. Ranjit T. Koodali, WKU’s Associate Provost for Research and Graduate Education, to the 2023 class of ACS Fellows, that includes 42 scientists who have made significant contributions to chemical sciences and have provided outstanding service to ACS, the world’s largest scientific society.
Dr. Koodali is recognized for the advancement of materials and their applications toward photochemical conversion of solar energy, environmental remediation, and biological applications. Dr. Koodali has contributed to over 125 peer-reviewed publications that have been cited over 10,000 times.
Dr. Koodali has made substantial contributions to ACS, that include serving as National Program Chair for the Energy and Fuels (ENFL) Division for the Spring and Fall ACS Meetings in 2014 and as Program Secretary from 2015-2017. He has co-organized 21 major national symposia and has served as a reviewer for various ACS journals. Dr. Koodali is currently chair of the Membership and the Executive Committee for the ACS ENFL Division. In addition, Dr. Koodali was a regular contributor to the radio show, In the Moment, produced by South Dakota Public Broadcasting, informing the public about the latest innovations in Chemistry.
In 2016, Dr. Koodali became the first Chemist in the Dakotas to be a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC). In 2017, Dr. Koodali was inducted into the academic honor society, Phi Beta Kappa in recognition of high attainments in liberal scholarship.
The ACS Fellows Program was created by the ACS Board of Directors in December 2008 to recognize members of ACS for outstanding achievements in and contributions to science, the profession and the Society.
