Dear Colleagues,
It is with a heavy heart that I share with you the news that our Provost Emeritus, Cheryl Stevens, passed away this morning after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Dr. Stevens first came to WKU in 2012 to serve as the Dean of the Ogden College of Science and Engineering. In 2019, she became Provost, and her leadership was instrumental in guiding our faculty and students through the unprecedented challenges our institution faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. She faithfully served WKU as our chief academic officer until her retirement from higher education in 2021.
When I arrived at WKU in 2017, I met frequently with Dean Stevens. Her advice, insight and leadership made my transition to President much easier. I am forever grateful for her selflessness and passion for our beloved institution.
On behalf of the entire WKU family, I extend my deepest and most sincere condolences to her family and loved ones.
Best,
Timothy C. Caboni
