Staff Leadership Institute is off to a great start this year with 22 individuals selected for the 2023-24 cohort.

Lauren Bahl, Mary Bidwell, Kristen Darby, Laura Deglow, Lacey DiPietro-Bell, Katelyn Durham, Kaitlyn Farris, Kathy Foushee, Jamie Garden, Keaton Hughey, Joshua Jenkins, Rhonda Jones, Austin Klaine, Kendra Mitchell, Shane Montgomery, Emma Newton, Meygan Oliver, Destiny O'Rourke, April Schleig, LaSheena Shelton, Tiffany Taylor, and Keisha Woodson make up this year’s group of SLI members.

Staff Leadership Institute is offered through a partnership between WKU Human Resources, WKU Staff Senate, and WKU Continuing & Professional Development. It is a unique program of personal and professional development offered to a cohort of WKU Staff. The cohort meets throughout the year and participates in various development activities including campus tours, engaging trainings, and team building.  

“Staff Leadership Institute continues its tradition as our institution’s proven leadership development program for our staff employees,” said Andrea Sherrill, WKU AVP/Chief Human Resources Officer. “Participants also leave with stronger campus connections, a better understanding of the higher education landscape, and an enhanced awareness of campus resources available to them at WKU. Each class inspires us with their motivation and commitment to making WKU the very best it can be.”

Participants will spend nine days over the next seven months improving leadership competencies including communication skills, teambuilding, and personal development strategies. They will increase their knowledge on valuable resources throughout campus and the WKU community.

“We are thrilled to, once again, be involved in this collaboration with WKU Staff Senate and WKU Human Resources. Staff Leadership Institute is a great opportunity for members of this cohort to grow both personally and professionally in an interactive and challenging setting,” said Dan Basta, Program Specialist.
