Several departments at WKU were recognized during the 2023 AMA Bowling Green Markie Awards for outstanding work in the field of marketing.

Bowling Green area businesses and organizations submitted a record number of entries, nearly 200, for the Markie Awards this year. The winners were named at the 23rd Annual Markie Awards at The Mint Gaming Hall on Tuesday (Nov. 28).

The Markie Awards were created by the Bowling Green chapter of the American Marketing Association to recognize work produced by marketing professionals in the Bowling Green area. Awards were judged by out-of-town marketing professionals and evaluated based on creativity and effectiveness derived from the project’s marketing objective, target audience and results.

WKU Communications & Marketing won awards in the following categories:

• Gold Award - Out of Home – Digital or Print: Lost River Sessions Promotions
• Silver Award - Marketing or PR Campaign: WKU Grad
• Bronze Award - Social Media: Black History Month Throwback Photo Recreations
• Bronze Award - Event or Fundraising Campaign: College of Business Building, Rendering Reveal & Groundbreaking
• Bronze Award - Anything Goes: Margaret Munday Bronze Plaque

WKU Housing & Residence Life won an award in the following category:

• Gold Award - Logo/Branding: Welcome HOME

WKU Athletics won awards in the following categories:

• Silver Award - Logo/Branding: Big Red Sports
• Silver Award - Newsletter, Magazine, E-Magazine, E-Newsletter: Big Red BBQ
• Silver Award - Out of Home – Digital or Print: TopsGun
• Bronze Award - Specialty or Promotional Item: Towels
• Bronze Award - Long Commercial/Video; Over :31 Seconds: C-USA Hall of Fame 

WKU Housing and Residence Life Marketing Coordinator Kirsten Hooks was also recognized as AMA Bowling Green’s New Member of the Year. The award goes to a new member who has exhibited strong commitment and involvement in the organization. (Read more about HRL's awards)
