The Kentucky Association for Gifted Education and The Center for Gifted Studies to be represented at Proclamation Signing Ceremony for Gifted Education Month in Kentucky

February 1, 2024 - Allison Mefford, Executive Director of the Kentucky Association for Gifted Education (KAGE), will preside over the Proclamation Signing Ceremony designating February as Gifted Education Month in Kentucky on February 6 at 12 p.m EST. Hosted by The Kentucky Association for Gifted Education (KAGE), the ceremony celebrates the gifted education community by bringing together state legislators, representatives from gifted education advocacy groups, teachers, and students in the Capitol Rotunda in Frankfort.
In attendance will be Governor Andy Beshear, Senate President Pro Tempore David Givens, Kentucky Department of Education Interim Commissioner Robin Fields Kinney, and Auditor Allison Ball. Students from The Gatton Academy and the Craft Academy will be speaking and performing, in addition to the 2024 KAGE Distinguished Student Award Recipient Lydia Feld of Norton Commons Elementary School, Jefferson County Public Schools. School groups from Metcalfe County, Barren County, Bowling Green City Schools, Boone County, Union County, Wayne County, and Walton-Verona Independent School districts will be participating.
"This is our second trip to the Proclamation Signing." said Aaron Linville, Walton-Verona Middle School teacher, "We hope to make it an annual event. Our students look forward to meeting with our elected officials and learning more about the legislative process!"
