WKU Campus Child Care Selected as Pyramid Model Research Site
- Wednesday, June 26th, 2024
WKU’s College of Education and Behavioral Sciences (CEBS) is pleased to announce that the WKU Campus Child Care (WKUCCC) has been selected as a Pyramid Model Research site by the National Center for Pyramid Model Innovations. This prestigious recognition underscores the center’s commitment to fostering social-emotional development and reducing challenging behaviors in young children.
The Pyramid Model is a comprehensive, research-based framework designed to promote social-emotional competence and address challenging behaviors in early childhood settings. As a selected research site, WKUCCC has demonstrated its capacity for effective staffing, procedural integrity, and reliability.
Participation in this initiative is a significant milestone for WKUCCC. Previous randomized studies on the Pyramid Model have shown notable improvements in social-emotional behaviors and reductions in challenging behaviors, which align perfectly with the center’s goals for the populations it serves.
To prepare for this role, the WKUCCC staff will undergo thorough training on the Pyramid Model. In October and November, staff members will participate in two full days of comprehensive training sessions. This training will equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to implement the Pyramid Model effectively in their classrooms, enhancing the quality of care and education provided to the children.
