Biology Advising Center
- Wednesday, January 25th, 2012
The Biology Advising Center (BAC) accommodates the academic advising needs of students that have declared Biology as a major, second major, or minor as well as exploratory science majors. BAC primarily serves freshmen, sophomores and transfer students until an appropriate faculty advisor in the Department of Biology can be identified.
The Biology Advising Center is designed to assist the Biology faculty in facilitation of a student’s successful academic career by acting as a clearing house for general information. Students, parents, and faculty can find information at BAC on the Biology Majors and Minor as well as the concentrations available within the Biology Majors. BAC also provides advisement for the Math Placement Exam and the Chemistry Placement Exam.
BAC serves students who are exploratory science majors by providing information on majors available in the Ogden College of Science and Engineering (OCSE). BAC personnel tailor the selection of a major and/or minor to each student. BAC personnel offer guidance on career direction and assistance in academic selections to assist students in their career selection. BAC also will refer students to the Career Services Center and other office on campus to obtain assistance beyond BAC’s capabilities.
BAC provides comprehensive academic advising through its full time Staff Advisor, Cassandra L. Cantrell. Cassandra acquired a Master’s of Science in Biology in 2009 and continued her employment with WKU’s Department of Biology. She has successfully completed the Advisors of Excellence certificate and is currently in progress with a Career Counseling Certificate in order to continue to serve the WKU academic community. Please email, call or stop by the Biology Advising Center.
