The Western Kentucky University Forensics Team hosted the Kentucky High School Speech League (KHSSL) Senior Speech Tournament on March 7-8, welcoming 40 high schools and over 650 students, parents and judges to campus for two days of competition.
The tournament, a major event in Kentucky’s speech and debate calendar, provided high school students an opportunity to showcase their skills in public speaking, interpretation, and limited preparation events. Competitions were held in classrooms across campus, with logistical support from various WKU departments.
“We are so grateful to all the various individuals across campus who helped make this special event happen,” said Ganer Newman, Director of WKU Forensics. “I especially want to provide a sincere thank you to KHSSL Director Steve Meadows, our Office Coordinator Debra Gensheimer, and Jessica Steenbergen in the provost’s office for their meticulous work!”
The WKU Forensics Team is proud to support the development of young speakers and looks forward to continuing its partnership with KHSSL.
