Two WKU students awarded Fund for Education Abroad Scholarships
- Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025

Two WKU students were awarded Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) scholarships for study abroad in the February 2025 application cycle. The recipients were offered scholarships for study abroad in France and Austria.
With 3,300 applications, this FEA application cycle reflects the highest number of applicants in the organization's 15-year history, resulting in a 3% selection rate. WKU is the only Kentucky institution represented in this cycle's 106 recipients.
The Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) makes life-changing international education experiences accessible to all by supporting minority and first-generation college students underrepresented in U.S. study abroad. Applicants must demonstrate a strong academic purpose for study abroad and connect their chosen courses to their future professional goals.
The following WKU students were awarded funding:
Angelo White of Bowling Green earned the NAFSA Tamara H. Bryant Memorial Scholarship. He is a marketing major with a concentration in sales. Angelo will study business at EM Lyon Business School in France in Fall 2025.
Donari Merritt of Hopkinsville earned the Gateway International Group Education Abroad Scholarship. He is a music major with a concentration in arts administration. Donari will study music through the KIIS Austria program in Summer 2024.
All of the students recognized worked with Lindsey Houchin in the Office of Scholar Development at WKU to prepare their applications.
Students interested in studying abroad are encouraged to seek scholarship funding early, as students who plan one year in advance maximize their scholarship potential.
To explore possibilities for study abroad, students are encouraged to work with WKU Global to find the best study abroad program to fit their goals and the WKU Office of Scholar Development to seek nationally competitive scholarships.
Students studying abroad in Spring 2026 can apply in the next FEA cycle when applications open this summer.
