WKU graduate Ruby Lewis will make guest appearances on television sitcoms.

Look for Lewis tonight (Jan. 29) on the CW television network as she makes an appearance opening the show “Hart of Dixie.” Then on Feb. 4, Lewis will appear as a guest on the CBS sitcom “Rules of Engagement.”

Her other upcoming projects include starring as Doralee Rhodes in 3D Theatrical’s production of “9 to 5,” opening Feb. 9 at Plummer Auditorium in Fullerton, Calif., and March 1 at Redondo Beach (Calif.) Performing Arts Center.

Lewis, a native of Shelbyville, appeared in numerous productions in the Department of Theatre and Dance while at WKU. She credits her education at WKU has a great influence on her career.

“Looking back, I am so thankful to have attended a University which offered me a multidimensional education,” the 2007 WKU graduate said. “I’ve learned that the key to being an engaging artist is to first understand oneself wholly. Diving into advanced curriculum in philosophy, psychology and anthropology while experimenting with blackbox theatre, opera, modern dance, that’s the stuff and really molded me and prepared me for a career in theatre and television.”

Her website also reflects on her time at WKU. “I spent four eye-opening and nurturing years at Western Kentucky University where I learned to juggle my studies, my social life and my art. I had the opportunity to grow through many challenging and inspiring roles while at WKU including Mother in Ragtime and Mrs. Johnstone in Blood Brothers…. I wouldn’t trade those years for the world.”
