HyGreen partners with WKU Health Services
Bowling Green, Kentucky, November 15, 2013
WKU Health Services has partnered with HyGreen Hygiene Recording and Reminding System to improve hand hygiene in the ambulatory and college healthcare setting. WKU Health Services, an accredited facility with the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), is excited about the opportunity to be a pilot facility for this technology. Now that the flu season has arrived, it is even more important for healthcare workers to remember to disinfect work areas and sanitize their hands.
“WKUHS has a history of seeking out and utilizing cutting edge technology in the field of clinical healthcare. We are proud to be continuing that tradition through this collaboration with HyGreen,” said Keith Lancaster, Manager, Healthcare Information Systems at WKU Health Services. “Their product will allow us to provide higher quality care for our patients and better protect our employees, while supplying valuable product development information to the HyGreen team. We see it as an added bonus that we will be able to partner with a member of the WKU Small Business Accelerator.”
The HyGreen Hand Hygiene Recording and Reminding System is the first and most comprehensive tool to definitively monitor adherence to hand hygiene protocols. HyGreen® actively reminds healthcare workers if they forget to sanitize their hands prior to patient engagements. The system documents each time a healthcare worker sanitizes their hands and through the use of wireless technology records their status on every interaction with a patient.
“Improving hand hygiene is not only crucial to a healthcare facility’s bottom line, it is also imperative in reducing the number of infections and improving patient safety,” says Elena Fraser, HyGreen’s Vice President of Client Services. “Our current deployments are hospitals making our collaboration with WKUHS the first deployment of an electronic hand hygiene monitoring reminding system into an ambulatory setting. WKUHS will be helping HyGreen to tailor our product to the needs of not only ambulatory settings but also of clinical and acute care facilities.”
