A Message About Health Services
- Friday, April 4th, 2014
On Wednesday March 19, President Ransdell announced that the university will issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) to accept bids from the private sector to operate WKU Health Services. In the words of President Ransdell “This decision has been made for a number of reasons. First, we can achieve a net savings of more than $1 million to apply to our campus-wide budget cut that will reduce the amount of the cut for each division of the university.”
Although significant savings can be achieved, our ultimate goal is to seek efficiencies and a potential enhancement of services as only available through these types of partnerships. As with any transition, there will be a period of adjustment, but know that we are still here for the students, faculty and staff of this campus. Health Services will not institute any changes as a result of this process before the end of this fiscal year and in turn patients should expect the same level of quality services from the dedicated employees of the Health Services center.
In short, this means that a private company will manage the day to day operations of the Health Services center.
As always, we are here to provide the best services we can for you. Please feel free to come in and speak to us regarding any questions or concerns about your current or future health care needs. Any further questions about this RFP process should be directed to: Bob Skipper, Director Media Relations 270-745-5431 or bob.skipper@wku.edu.
