As we prepare to enter into the 50th year of Head Start, we find that reflection is a good reminder of where we’ve been and where we need to go.
T/TAS Family & Community Partnership Specialists, Robin Gadsden-Dupree and Jennifer Pecot, have been engaged in Head Start for a combined total of 70 years. Many of you have asked if there was ever any regulation, guidance or suggestion about family service caseloads. Our answer has always been that while it was never put in regulation, there was a Social Service Task Force that suggested a 1:35 ratio. Jennifer recently found that document in her archives; we’d like to share it with you. Click here to view!
Remember this is for historical purposes only, it is not regulatory. Even though the document is about 26 years old, we think it is interesting reading and in many respects, relevant today.
So read, review, reflect, rethink and remember that we still have a lot of work ahead.
