Layered Funding Resource

The White House’s proposed budget has several sources of funding for Early Childhood Initiatives. One of the common themes in these initiatives is having the recipients use multiple sources of funding in order to leverage results. It is believed this is likely to be a trend that will continue regardless of how funds are allocated to the myriad of federal funding sources. It is recommended that programs who have not been considering the implication of these bi-partisan desires start reviewing materials in this vein.
One such resource is Putting it Together: A Guide to Financing Comprehensive Services in Child Care and Early Education by Christine Johnson-Staub. It was produced in August 2012 and is made available by CLASP at http://www.clasp.org/issues/child-care-and-early-education/in-focus/putting-it-together-a-guide-to-financing-comprehensive-services-in-child-care-and-early-education.
The most relevant portion is the explanation of Funding Streams: The Nuts and Bolts of Federal Sources.
