Secretary Duncan Calls for Investments in Early Education at Congressional Hearing
At a hearing of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies last Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan provided testimony in support of the Administration's education budget priorities for fiscal year 2016. Secretary Duncan called on Congress to approve new investments in high-quality early education and child care. Duncan testified that these investments are critical to our continued national and economic security. At the hearing, Subcommittee Chairman Tom Cole (R-OK) and Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) also made statements on the importance of early childhood education.
