April Butler announced as Female Scholar Athlete of the Year!

Ms. April Butler came to WKU from Paducah, KY. She is an outstanding scholar and golfer. April will graduate in May 2015 with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. She holds a 4.0 GPA. This year April was the captain of the WKU women's golf team and she was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team. She also is WKU's first (and so far only) Presidential Scholar student-athlete.
April has a long list of service activities, academic accolades, and professional development activities. She is a Girl Scout and she was a H4 counselor as a member of the Honors College a WKU. April has been involved in Share a Swipe, the Boys and Girls Club of Franklin Kentucky, and as a member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, she has participated in events such as Christmas in Kentucky, the Teddy Bear Toss, and the WKU Food Pantry drives. She was inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honors Society and she has been on the WKU President’s List all four years of college. In the pursuit of a career in medicine, April has served as an intern at the Four Rivers Internal Medicine center in Paducah and the Future Physicians Program.
The Department of Biology and the Ogden College of Science and Engineering are proud of April's accomplishments and wish her the best in the future!
