Dr. Chandra Emani, assistant professor of plant molecular biology at WKU Owensboro, is conducting extensive research on the pharmaceutical and therapeutic benefits of the basil plant. His research involves genetic engineering of the basil plant to exploit its potential as a plant pharmaceutical source to treat cancer. He has received multiple grants to support the expansion of his research. Dr. Emani and student Roger Dame were awarded a Faculty-Undergraduate Student Engagement (FUSE) internal grant from the WKU Office of Research and Dr. Emani was awarded a Research and Creative Activities Program grant from WKU's Office of Research.
