Ann Patchett, New York Times bestselling author of Commonwealth, Bel Canto and numerous other titles, will visit Bowling Green for a presentation and book signing at 6 p.m. Sept. 19 at WKU’s Knicely Conference Center.
“We are thrilled to have Ann Patchett visit Bowling Green,” said Sara Volpi, Literary Outreach Coordinator for WKU Libraries. “Patchett was unable to attend the SOKY Book Fest last spring so she had agreed to visit this fall. She is co-owner of a Parnassus Bookstore in Nashville and has a very busy schedule, so we are fortunate she will be able to do this event.”
Her book Commonwealth has received numerous forms of praise, including New York Times Best Book of the Year, USA Today Best Book of 2016, Time Magazine Top 10 Selection, Oprah Favorite Book of 2016, Washington Post Best Book of 2016 and Kirkus Reviews Best Fiction of 2016.
Library Journal says “Patchett brings humanity, humor, and a disarming affection to lovable, struggling characters…Irresistible,” and New York Times says “Exquisite…the questions Commonwealth raises are ultimately counterfactual, philosophical: who might we be if our parents hadn’t made catastrophic choices, and we hadn’t responded catastrophically to them? Maybe better-adjusted people with easier days and nights. But maybe the poorer for it…Commonwealth is impossible to put down.”
This program is presented by the partners of Southern Kentucky Book Fest: WKU Libraries, Warren County Public Library and Barnes & Noble Booksellers.
