Members of the WKU Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter will be spending their fall break in Madisonville working on projects with Hopkins County Habitat for Humanity.

The WKU group will be working with the local affiliate Thursday-Saturday (Oct. 5-7) to assist with building homes as part of Habitat’s efforts to eliminate substandard housing. The group will be working on subflooring, framing, siding and roofing as well as any additional work the Hopkins County affiliate needs accomplished.

“The participants have chosen to take this trip instead of going home because they are dedicated to make a difference with their time away from school,” said Bryan Reaka, chapter advisor and faculty member in WKU’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

In addition to Reaka, participants in the fall break trip to Madisonville include Adam Byrd of Franklin, a graduate student in Engineering Technology Management; Hannah King of Brandenburg, a junior Psychology major; Allison Hohenstein of Radcliff, a sophomore Economics and Chinese major; Kaci Carruthers of Louisville, a sophomore Dance major; Shelby Campbell, a senior Manufacturing Engineering Technology major from Louisville; Lauren Wagner, a senior Mechanical Engineering major from Louisville; Maggie Sullivan, a senior International Affairs major from Louisville; Caleb Harter, a freshman Manufacturing Engineering Technology major from St. Louis, Missouri; and Emily Jacobson, a freshman Biology major from Louisville.
