• WKU Forensics Team wins two tournaments in Illinois: WKU's Forensics Team traveled to Lebanon, Illinois, to take part in two tournaments Feb. 10-11 at McKendree University. At both tournaments, WKU was crowned team sweepstakes champion.

• Ethnobotanist and researcher Paul Alan Cox visiting WKU today: Dr. Paul Alan Cox, an ethnobotanist and researcher, will be speaking at Van Meter Hall tonight at 7:30 as part of WKU’s Cultural Enhancement Series. Prior to his keynote speech, he will be having an open Q&A Session at 1 p.m. today. in Snell Hall 1108.
• Fall 2017 Dean's/President's List: WKU's Fall 2017 Dean’s and President’s List is available online.
• 2018 Winter Weather Communications Plan: Check out a reminder about WKU’s winter weather communications plan that provides a number of ways you can find out if classes are delayed, canceled or if a campus is closed.
• WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. • Men’s golf: Sargent Leads Hilltoppers on Abbreviated Day One in Mobile: WKU Hilltopper Golf's Billy Tom Sargent started the spring with a strong showing Monday, finishing the first day of the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate tied for second individually. Sargent shot a 3-under 69 in the first round at the par-72, 7,212-yard Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course, tallying five birdies with two bogeys. That had him just one stroke behind Florida State's Jamie Li. Play was called midway through the second round because of darkness. They'll return to the course at 8 a.m. CT to finish Round 2 and complete the final round.
• Men’s basketball: Hollingsworth Named C-USA Freshman of the Week: After a successful week playing with a face mask for the first time, WKU's Taveion Hollingsworth earned his second Conference USA Men's Basketball Freshman of the Week honor, as announced Monday by the league office.
• Softball: Hilltoppers Set to Stream 14 Home Games on CUSA.tv: WKU Softball has announced that 14 of the squad's home games from The Hill will be streamed live on CUSA.tv this season. Contests against nine different opponents will be streamed, including tilts with four 2017 NCAA Tournament teams.
• Baseball: WKU to Stream 20 Home Games on CUSA.tv: WKU Baseball announced its CUSA.tv schedule for the 2018 season, which includes 20 of the team's 28 games at Nick Denes Field.
• Soccer: WKU Announces 2018 Recruiting Class: WKU Soccer has announced its 2018 recruiting class, made up of two defenders, two midfielders, a forward and a goalkeeper. The class features three Kentucky high school signees, including 2017 Miss Kentucky Soccer Ambere Barnett (Rockport, Ind.), Chelsea Moore (Harrodsburg) and Olivia Stanley (Crestwood). Lyric Schmidt joins the Lady Toppers from Kingsport, Tenn. Kerragan Mulzer (Santa Claus, Ind.) and Bailee Witt (Plainfield, Ill.) and round out the balanced recruiting class.

WKU in the News

• Two-day event to focus on sustainability, social justice: Religious and educational leaders will come together with other community members for a two-day event to discuss social responsibility and sustainable practices that can be implemented in Bowling Green. The Interfaith Dialogue on Earth Care is scheduled to begin Friday. This is the sixth annual public event organized by WKU’s philosophy and religion department. (Note: The location of Friday night’s session has been changed to Gary Ransdell Hall Auditorium.)
• Will WKU’s ‘quick package’ pay dividends down the stretch?: A college basketball season, as you know, rarely (if ever) comes without twists and turns, bumps and bruises, highs and lows, exhilarating wins which prove a team has it all figured out followed by dumbfounding losses which prove, "this team ain’t no good!" WKU can commiserate. And if ever there were a season with storylines galore to that point, 2017-18 has been the gift that keeps on giving to those who cover the program. The latest talking point: Rick Stansbury’s calculated strategy to deploy a small (relatively speaking) lineup to relieve his Hilltoppers from a mild funk in the short term and create matchup nightmares for opponents in the long term.

• Topper Travelers Program 2018: The WKU Alumni Association is planning a Baltic Cruise across Northern Europe June 21-July 2. The 10-night cruise across the Baltic Sea aboard Marina will begin in Copenhagen, Denmark, with stops in Berlin, Germany; Helsinki, Finland; St. Petersburg, Russia; Tallinn, Estonia; and Stockholm, Sweden.
