Holocaust mural exhibit to open March 1 at National Corvette Museum
- The Center for Gifted Studies
- Wednesday, February 14th, 2018
An exhibit of 20 murals depicting powerful messages about the Holocaust will open March 1-15 at the National Corvette Museum, located at 350 Corvette Drive in Bowling Green. The exhibit will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT daily, and admission is included with the purchase of a $10 Corvette Museum tour.
For 26 years, students enrolled in the Nazi Germany and the Holocaust course as part of The Center for Gifted Studies’ VAMPY (the Summer Program for Verbally and Mathematically Precocious Youth) program have created murals to illuminate important themes surrounding the Holocaust. Taught by Kentucky Teacher Hall of Fame Inductee Ron Skillern, the class explores the rise and fall of the Nazi Party while exploring the danger of being a spectator in the face of atrocity.
The exhibit is made possible by a grant from the Jewish Heritage Fund for Excellence.
Murals of the Holocaust, a documentary on the VAMPY project, will premiere at 9:30 p.m. CT Feb. 25 on KET. A free public screening of the documentary will be held at 5:30 p.m. CT March 2 at the National Corvette Museum.
