WKU News
- Student Scholarship Endowment created to honor retired WKU Libraries Dean Connie Foster: A new student scholarship endowment fund has been created to aid WKU students and to honor retired WKU Libraries Dean Connie Foster. The newly formed endowment, named the Connie Foster Student Scholarship Endowment, aims to assist WKU students with priority to those students working in the libraries.
- The Society for Lifelong Learning at WKU Offers Three Food For Though Events this Spring: The SLL has three Food For Thought events this spring. These are open to the entire community and include interesting presentation and lunch. Upcoming events are listed online, along with registration links. - Partnership Develops Mental Health Video Series for WKU Online Students: WKU Online is partnering with the WKU Counseling and Testing Center (CTC) to produce a series of videos for online learners. The videos will cover topics such as grief, depression, anxiety, and other issues. This is a joint effort between Instructional Design (Andrew Swanson), the Technology Resource Center (Julie Taylor), WKU Online (Holly Young), and counselors at the CTC.
- PS1 & PS2 Used Nightly for Event Parking: WKU is hosting the 2018 KHSAA Regional Basketball Tournaments in Diddle Arena through March 6. PS1 and PS2 will be used for event parking. Students and faculty/staff with current WKU parking permits may use the structures as space allows.
- 2018 Winter Weather Communications Plan: Check out a reminder about WKU’s winter weather communications plan that provides a number of ways you can find out if classes are delayed, canceled or if a campus is closed.
- WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU's Public Radio can be heard on WKYU-FM (88.9) in Bowling Green/Glasgow; WDCL-FM (89.7) in Somerset/Campbellsville; WKPB-FM (88.9) in Henderson/Owensboro; WKUE-FM (90.9) in Elizabethtown/Bardstown; and online at http://www.wkyufm.org/

- Women’s basketball: Furious Lady Topper Rally Falls Short at Southern Miss, 69-63: WKU rallied from a double-digit deficit in each half and briefly took the lead at the end of the third quarter, but a strong fourth quarter from Southern Miss dealt the Lady Toppers a 69-63 setback inside Reed Green Coliseum on Thursday evening. Next: Lady Toppers (21-7, 12-3 C-USA) at UTEP at 2 p.m. Saturday. More: Ivy Brown Named to 2017-18 C-USA All-Academic Team
- Men’s basketball: Hilltoppers Fall 82-64 at Middle Tennessee: A rough end to the first half and Middle Tennessee's hot shooting worked against WKU in an 82-64 road loss Thursday night. Next: WKU (22-8, 14-3) at UAB at 7 p.m. Saturday.
- Volleyball: Anderson Headed for U.S. Women's National Team Tryouts: For the second-consecutive season, WKU Volleyball's Rachel Anderson is headed to the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center for the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts from March 2-4. Anderson is one of 229 athletes representing 89 different colleges and universities at this year's tryout vying for spots on the U.S. Women's National Team and U.S. Collegiate National Team programs.
- Baseball: Toppers Host Mountaineers in First-Ever Series Against Big 12 Opponent: For the first time in program history, WKU Baseball will play a three-game series against a Big 12 opponent when West Virginia visits Nick Denes Field today through Sunday.
- Softball: WKU Homestand Continues with Hilltopper Spring Fling: WKU Softball will look to continue to build upon one of the best starts in program history as the team continues its homestand with the Holiday Inn Hilltopper Spring Fling this weekend. WKU (11-4) will welcome Austin Peay, Dayton and Evansville to Bowling Green for the three-day outing that begins this morning at the WKU Softball Complex.
- Tennis: No Winner Declared in WKU-Miami (Ohio) Match: Late Wednesday evening, the ITA ruled that the Feb. 24 match between the WKU and Miami (Ohio) women's tennis teams would be declared with no winner. Next: WKU (4-2) returns to action this weekend against Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.

- Used book sale to raise funds for April SOKY Book Fest: Thousands of used books will be offered to the public at a three-day sale to fund the annual Southern Kentucky Book Fest.
- Trailblazer award winners worthy of emulation: As former WKU administrator Howard Bailey said during Sunday’s Trailblazer awards event, “These are people who have blazed trails and been successful in areas where their ancestors maybe were denied.”

- Topper Travelers Program 2018: The WKU Alumni Association is planning a Baltic Cruise across Northern Europe June 21-July 2. The 10-night cruise across the Baltic Sea aboard Marina will begin in Copenhagen, Denmark, with stops in Berlin, Germany; Helsinki, Finland; St. Petersburg, Russia; Tallinn, Estonia; and Stockholm, Sweden.
