• Ann and Paul Calico make gift to support business students in financial need: Ann and Paul Calico, longtime supporters of WKU, have established a scholarship for students in the Gordon Ford College of Business who demonstrate a need for financial aid and who meet high academic standards and have overcome obstacles to success. The Paul B. and Ann R. Calico Scholarship Fund in Diversity reflects the Calicos’ belief that obstacles can take various forms, which is why they chose not to limit the scholarship guidelines to certain factors.
• SkyTeach: Creating STEM teachers that change lives: More than two decades ago, a remarkable program came to life at the University of Texas at Austin. As the UTeach program grew more successful, interest in the program increased—and so did opportunities to “take the show on the road,” said Martha Day, Ed.D, SkyTeach Education Co-Director. Significant grant funding received from the National Math and Science Initiative made it possible for universities across the nation to apply for a chance to replicate the program. Among the first 13 schools accepted: WKU.
• WKU Forensics Team wins debate tournament: The WKU Forensics Team’s debate squad of eight won the sweepstakes championship at Sacramento State the weekend of March 3-4. The team also swept the top four debate speaker placings.
• WKU students raise more than $45,000 for St. Jude: On Friday (March 2), WKU Midnight on the Hill for St. Jude (MOTH) hosted its inaugural event, formerly known as Up ‘til Dawn, for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
• High school journalists honored at awards ceremony: More than 100 high school journalists and advisers from Kentucky, Tennessee and Indiana attended the 38th annual Mark of Excellence newspaper, broadcasting and online awards ceremony at WKU March 2.
• WKU Week in Photos for Feb. 26-March 2: Check out the latest installment of WKU Week in Photos by Clinton Lewis and Bryan Lemon of WKU Public Affairs.
• PS1 & PS2 Used Nightly for Event Parking: WKU is hosting the 2018 KHSAA Regional Basketball Tournaments in Diddle Arena through March 6. PS1 and PS2 will be used for event parking.  Students and faculty/staff with current WKU parking permits may use the structures as space allows.
• 2018 Winter Weather Communications Plan: Check out a reminder about WKU’s winter weather communications plan that provides a number of ways you can find out if classes are delayed, canceled or if a campus is closed.
• WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU's Public Radio can be heard on WKYU-FM (88.9) in Bowling Green/Glasgow; WDCL-FM (89.7) in Somerset/Campbellsville; WKPB-FM (88.9) in Henderson/Owensboro; WKUE-FM (90.9) in Elizabethtown/Bardstown; and online at http://www.wkyufm.org/

WKU Sports

• Women’s golf: Lady Toppers Card Best Round in Program History at UNF Collegiate: Behind the best single round in program history, WKU Lady Topper Golf is tied for second place heading into the final day of North Florida's UNF Collegiate. The Lady Toppers fired a two-round total of 586 (286-300) on Monday at the par-72, 5,926-yard Jacksonville Golf and Country Club. WKU's 2-under 286 in the first round was the best team score in the history of the program, topping a pair of 288s – most recently accomplished at the MSU Spring Citrus Challenge in spring 2017. The final round begins this morning.
• Women’s basketball: Brown, Brown, Elgedawy Earn Postseason All-Conference Accolades: For the first time in the history of Conference USA, WKU has secured a pair of First Team All-Conference honorees for the fourth straight season as Tashia and Ivy Brown have earned the accolades as announced by the conference office on Monday morning. In addition, both Browns have been named to the C-USA All-Defensive Team, and Raneem Elgedawy has earned a spot on the C-USA All-Freshman Team. Next: Elgedawy and the Browns will lead the Lady Toppers into this week's C-USA Tournament at The Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, as the No. 2 seed. WKU (21-8, 12-4 C-USA) is set to take on the winner of Florida Atlantic-UTSA at 1:30 p.m. CT Thursday.
• Men’s basketball: Johnson, Thompson Named All-C-USA Selections; Hollingsworth Picked to All-Freshman Team: For the first time in four seasons, WKU Hilltopper Basketball features two all-league selections with senior Justin Johnson named to the 2017-18 All-Conference USA First Team and senior Darius Thompson named to the Second Team, as announced Monday by the league office. In addition, WKU newcomer Taveion Hollingsworth was named to the C-USA All-Freshman team. Next: The third-seeded Hilltoppers (22-9) head this week to the Conference USA Basketball Championship in Frisco, Texas, where they'll face either UAB or Florida Atlantic in the quarterfinals at 9 p.m. CT Thursday.
• Baseball: WKU Aims for Season Sweep of Belmont: For the second time in 15 days, WKU and Belmont will go head-to-head on the diamond, as the Hilltoppers travel to Nashville to face the Bruins this afternoon. First pitch at E.S. Rose Park will be at 4 p.m.

• Topper Travelers Program 2018: The WKU Alumni Association is planning a Baltic Cruise across Northern Europe June 21-July 2. The 10-night cruise across the Baltic Sea aboard Marina will begin in Copenhagen, Denmark, with stops in Berlin, Germany; Helsinki, Finland; St. Petersburg, Russia; Tallinn, Estonia; and Stockholm, Sweden.
