• 2 WKU students honored in Hearst multimedia competition: Two WKU students have been honored in the second multimedia competition in the 2017-2018 Hearst Journalism Awards Program. Rune Aarestrup Pedersen, an exchange student from Denmark, placed second in the Multimedia II/News Competition while Srijita Chattopadhyay, a senior from Bowling Green, placed third.
• Budget Stabilization Plan Update: President Timothy C. Caboni updated the campus community on the budget stabilization plan.
• WKU student & CCSJ to host 'Rights of the Rock' presentation on March 22: Rights of the Rock: The Alcatraz Occupation and Its Reverberations, a presentation and group discussion hosted by Sarah Spalding in cooperation with the WKU Center for Citizenship & Social Justice, will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday (March 22) at Downing Student Union, room 2124.
• WKU CCSJ organizing March for Our Lives event March 24: On Saturday (March 24), the March for Our Lives movement will take to the streets to demand that we end the epidemic of mass shootings in our schools and community. Bowling Green will be one of the more than 581 cities gathering to demand action. Participants will gather at Cherry Hall on WKU's campus at 11 a.m. and march to Fountain Square Park where a series of speakers will highlight the importance of action on gun reform.
• WKU CCSJ 'Second Tuesday Salons' series continues March 27:  The WKU Center for Citizenship & Social Justice invites campus and community members to the second lecture in its spring 2018 “Second Tuesday Salons” series on March 27.
• 42nd Annual National Council for Black Studies Conference: Alexus Richardson attended the 42nd annual National Council for Black Studies Conference with Dr. Saundra Ardrey from March 14-17.
• WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU's Public Radio can be heard on WKYU-FM (88.9) in Bowling Green/Glasgow; WDCL-FM (89.7) in Somerset/Campbellsville; WKPB-FM (88.9) in Henderson/Owensboro; WKUE-FM (90.9) in Elizabethtown/Bardstown; and online at http://www.wkyufm.org/

WKU Sports

• Men’s basketball: Hilltoppers Edge Top-Seeded USC to Reach NIT Quarterfinals: WKU Hilltopper Basketball notched its first Pac-12 road victory in program history Monday night, advancing through the second round of the NIT with a 79-75 win at top-seeded USC. The Hilltoppers (26-10) came back in the final four minutes, surging past the Trojans (24-12) to win multiple games in the NIT for the first time since 1948. WKU advances to face second-seeded Oklahoma State on the road at 7 p.m. CT Wednesday in the quarterfinals on ESPN2.
• Football: Hilltoppers Open 2018 Spring Practices Today: As construction continues high above Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium on new video boards, the action ramps up on the field today as WKU opens up spring practice for the 2018 season. Under second-year head coach, the process has already begun to replace 11 starters, including seven on offense, but is bolstered by 15 returning starters and 55 lettermen from last year's Cure Bowl team.

• Emerging Lane -- Home-Grown Innovation: New business start-ups in Kentucky have numerous tools at their disposal, thanks to a vibrant scene of incubators and accelerators. Much of this work was kickstarted in 2001 with the founding of the Kentucky Innovation Network by the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development (CED). The WKU Center for Research and Development houses the WKU Small Business Accelerator and the central region office of KIN.
• What to watch for as WKU starts spring ball in the second year of the Sanford era: If Year One of the Mike Sanford administration brought forth a new era of WKU football, then Year Two is going to bring forth a really new era of WKU football. • Topper Travelers Program 2018: The WKU Alumni Association is planning a Baltic Cruise across Northern Europe June 21-July 2. The 10-night cruise across the Baltic Sea aboard Marina will begin in Copenhagen, Denmark, with stops in Berlin, Germany; Helsinki, Finland; St. Petersburg, Russia; Tallinn, Estonia; and Stockholm, Sweden.
