The Hilltoppers are headed to New York City for the NIT semifinals! WKU defeated Oklahoma State 92-84 Wednesday night and will face Utah on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden.

WKU News

• Cobane named American Council on Education Fellow: The American Council on Education (ACE) announced Wednesday that Dr. Craig T. Cobane, Executive Director of the Mahurin Honors College at WKU and the Jacque and John Jarve Endowed Professor, has been named an ACE Fellow for academic year 2018-19.
• Research Continues on Modeling and Evaluating the Influences of Class V Injection Wells on Urban Karst Hydrology: In a previous project, WKU Graduate student James Shelley discovered many problems related to the design, maintenance, and siting of Class V Injection Wells which are drilled wells into the limestone bedrock in Bowling Green and other places having karst topography, where stormwater can be directed underground into caves and cracks in the rock, eventually becoming part of the groundwater system. This led to further research.
• Sarah Bishop shares the charm of Bowling Green through a Southern Living style magazine: Sarah (McCullum) Bishop of Memphis, Tenn., came to Bowling Green to study English Literature at WKU. While she learned a great deal in the classroom, it was her applied experience outside the classroom that really ignited her love of writing and editing.
• WKU Alumni Lifetime Member Brian Lacefield appointed to agriculture role by U.S. President: Brian Lacefield , originally from Princeton, has a pretty lengthy family history at WKU. His parents, grandmother, brother, wife and sister-in-law all attended WKU. Lacefield came to the Hill as a History major, but ended up getting two degrees in Agriculture. Lacefield was appointed in October 2017 by President Donald Trump to serve as the Farm Service Agency (FSA) Executive Director for the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
• Three former Hilltoppers honored as Trailblazers: For 21 years, Bowling Green’s Trailblazers Committee has recognized community leaders during Black History Month. This year, Wathetta Buford, Bea Isable and Delvagus Jackson were among the six local African-American citizens recognized on Feb. 25 for their leadership qualities in management, civic engagement, community service, law, entrepreneurship and higher education.
• WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU's Public Radio can be heard on WKYU-FM (88.9) in Bowling Green/Glasgow; WDCL-FM (89.7) in Somerset/Campbellsville; WKPB-FM (88.9) in Henderson/Owensboro; WKUE-FM (90.9) in Elizabethtown/Bardstown; and online at http://www.wkyufm.org/

WKU Sports

• Men’s basketball: WKU Headed to New York City; Defeats Oklahoma State 92-84 in NIT Quarterfinals: Start spreading the news: WKU Hilltopper Basketball is headed to New York City. The Hilltoppers (27-10) led nearly the whole way in a hostile road environment at Oklahoma State on Wednesday night, outlasting the Cowboys 92-84 in the NIT quarterfinals. WKU advances to face Utah in the semifinals on Tuesday, March 27 at historic Madison Square Garden in New York.
• Baseball: 9th Inning Rally Falls Short vs. No. 15 Cardinals: In a back-and-forth midweek contest vs. No. 15 Louisville, a five-run eighth inning was the difference for WKU Baseball in an 8-5 loss to the visiting Cardinals. Steven Kraft went 3-for-4 to raise his season batting average to .383 and extend his hit streak to 10 games. Next: WKU at Rice this weekend.
• Softball: WKU Welcomes Jacksonville State to The Hill: WKU Softball will wrap up its four-game homestand today as Jacksonville State comes to town for a 3 p.m. CT, non-conference game on The Hill. Both the Hilltoppers (18-11) and Gamecocks (11-14) will look to get back into the win column after suffering setbacks their last time out. The midweek tilt will be available for streaming on CUSA.tv.

• WKU students plan local 'March for Our Lives' event: When thousands of students rally Saturday in Washington, D.C., for the national March for Our Lives event, local students will gather in downtown Bowling Green for their own demonstration.
• WKU continues remarkable run, faces Utah next: WKU, arguably, has now put together one of the greatest seasons in its storied history. No, it’s not in the NCAA Tournament. Nor is it playing for a national championship. And it didn’t come away with a conference title this year. But what the Hilltoppers are doing is going for a 28th win this season after cutting a swath of victories through Power 5 opponents en route to New York City next week and the semifinals of the National Invitational Tournament.
