The WKU Center for Citizenship & Social Justice invites campus and community members to a presentation by Dr. Khadijah White, Assistant Professor of Journalism and Media Studies at Rutgers University, at 4 p.m. Wednesday (April 4) at Downing Student Union, room 3020.
In her presentation Boiling Over Right-Wing Populism: Race, Post-Race, and Post-Isms in Tea Party News, Dr. White will discuss how media reporting of the Tea Party was preoccupied with race and gender identities as symbolic of American progress. Additionally, Dr. White will address the centrality of race in propelling and proliferating Tea Party coverage and share five ideologies of racism in journalism.
Dr. White’s presentation is part of the 2018-2019 Department of Diversity & Community Studies speaker series, and open to anyone interested in participating. Refreshments will be provided.
