First Bowling Green Mini Maker Faire to be held April 21
- WKU Makerspace
- Wednesday, April 4th, 2018
The first Bowling Green Mini Maker Faire will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. CDT April 21 at WKU’s South Campus at 2355 Nashville Road.
Organized by the WKU Makerspace, the family-friendly community festival will bring together science, art, craft, homesteading and engineering as innovative and creative makers demonstrate and share their work with the public. The day will also feature food, workshops, and impromptu music and other performances. The event is free and open to the public.
Throughout the faire, attendees can meet a variety of makers of all ages and backgrounds, from tech enthusiasts, crafters and homesteaders to scientists and garage tinkerers. Makers will show and explain projects of all sorts and sizes, including a high-altitude balloon, guitars made from scratch, aluminum sculpture and blacksmithing. There will also be many hands-on workshops that allow participants to try out the ideas on display.
“What we most love about our makerspace is the hands-on learning and sharing we get to do together,” said Dr. Anne Heintzman, who coordinates the WKU Makerspace. “This Mini Maker Faire is an extension of that – an amazingly diverse community-wide showcase of learning and sharing.”
The festival is still accepting applications from makers in fields of all kinds, including robotics, gardening, ceramics, fashion design, installation art, drones, rocketry, puppets, games, vintage computers and more. There is no fee for booths or for vendors. Visit http://bowlinggreen.makerfaire.com/ to fill out the online application.
