- Dahmer selected as WKU's first Truman Scholar: Loandria “Andi” Dahmer, a WKU junior from Fisherville, has been selected as a 2018 Harry S. Truman Scholar. She will receive $30,000 for graduate school and opportunities for professional development to prepare her for a career in public service leadership. More: Watch the video as President Timothy C. - Converted cooking oil fuels Topper Transit bus: Topper Transit Bus #13 is undergoing a big change this Earth Month. The shuttle will begin running on 100 percent biofuel by WKU’s Earth Day Celebration on April 19 through a collaboration between WKU’s School of Engineering & Applied Sciences, Agriculture & Research Education Center, Restaurant Group and Parking & Transportation Services.
- Highlands Middle School student wins 2018 Kentucky Geographic Bee: Case Grillot of Fort Thomas, an eighth-grader at Highlands Middle School, took top honors at the 2018 Kentucky Geographic Bee on April 6 at WKU’s Knicely Conference Center. Second place went to Jayden Morris of Calloway County Middle School in Murray. Third place went to Taylor Smith of Breckinridge County Middle School.
- Study Away Scholarships awarded for Summer 2018: Five students have been awarded Study Away Scholarships for summer 2018. SGA began offering this scholarship for the Winter Term 2011 and has since sponsored over 68 scholarships totaling over $8,000.
- Campus traffic advisory: Bus Congestion on College Heights Boulevard: Through Saturday, school buses will be using the loading/unloading zone on College Heights Boulevard in front of College High Hall for the KMEA District Three Concert in Van Meter Hall.
- WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU's Public Radio can be heard on WKYU-FM (88.9) in Bowling Green/Glasgow; WDCL-FM (89.7) in Somerset/Campbellsville; WKPB-FM (88.9) in Henderson/Owensboro; WKUE-FM (90.9) in Elizabethtown/Bardstown; and online at http://www.wkyufm.org/

- Athletics: 140 WKU Student-Athletes Earn C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll Recognition: A total of 140 WKU student-athlete's earned Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition from Conference USA for maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better during the 2017-18 academic year, the league announced on Thursday.
- Track & Field: One-Day Govs Invitational Up Next for WKU: Both the Hilltopper and Lady Topper Track & Field squads will be traveling to Austin Peay today to compete in the Governors Invitational.
- Baseball: Toppers Host Marshall in C-USA Weekend Set: Coming off four consecutive games against ranked opponents, it does not get any easier this weekend for WKU Baseball as the Hilltoppers host Marshall at Nick Denes Field. Due to heavy rain expected over the weekend, the series will begin today with a doubleheader at 3 p.m., with 45 minutes in-between games. The schedule for the final game is TBA.
- Softball: WKU Headed to UAB for C-USA Series: Midway through its Conference USA slate, WKU Softball is headed for Birmingham, Ala., to take on weekend host UAB in a three-game series. Due to inclement weather in the forecast, the series will begin today with a doubleheader from Mary Bowers Field at 3 p.m. CT. The sides will look to wrap up the series with a 1 p.m. tilt on Saturday.

- WKU Poet Laureate Says Poetry Is for Intellect and Emotion: Each April the Academy of American Poets recognizes National Poetry Month as a way to increase awareness of and appreciation for poetry in the United States. WKU Poet Laureate, Dr. Mary Ellen Miller, believes that anyone can learn to appreciate poetry.
- WKU Students Rally for Higher Education: Students and university employees gathered on WKU’s campus Thursday at a rally for higher education funding. The event was intended to bring attention to budget cuts, pension increases and faculty and staff reductions.
- Autism Awareness Month: Available services and concerns facing the community: April is known as Autism Awareness Month. Autism advocates have highlighted local services available, and also the issues facing the community.
