• 13 WKU students recognized by Gilman International Scholarship Program: Eleven WKU students will receive Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships, and two students were selected as alternates.  Riana Berry of Lexington, Sheila Butler of Bowling Green, Elizabeth Chagnon of Lebanon, Tennessee, Lillian Golden of Campbellsburg, Elisabeth Hernandez-Torres of Bowling Green, Michael King of Franklin, Jeremy McFarland of Campbellsville, Robert Myers of Louisville, Antonio McManis of Shelbyville, Aaliyah Neblett of Cedar Hill, Tennessee, and Nyla Rogers of Charlotte, North Carolina, were selected as Gilman Scholars and will receive up to $8,000 to fund their study abroad programs during summer 2018. Anna McAvoy of Richmond and Casey McKinney of Burkesville were selected as alternates and may receive the scholarship as additional funding becomes available.
• WKU wins Hearst multimedia competition for 7th straight year: WKU’s School of Journalism & Broadcasting has won the Hearst Journalism Awards Program’s Intercollegiate Multimedia Competition for the seventh consecutive year.
• Professor reports to UNESCO on Mammoth Cave/WKU partnership: University Distinguished Professor of Hydrogeology Chris Groves has returned from Paris, France, where he reported on activities of the Mammoth Cave Area Biosphere Reserve (MCABR) at the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
• Alumni student organization welcomes new members to promote WKU Spirit: WKU’s Student Alumni Ambassadors (SAA) recently welcomed 15 new members, bringing the membership total to 27 for Fall 2018.
• Follow WKU student groups on social media: WKU students are participating in summer projects and courses. Follow the WKU storm chase course, Bike4Alz riders and WKU Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter on Twitter for updates.
• WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU's Public Radio can be heard on WKYU-FM (88.9) in Bowling Green/Glasgow; WDCL-FM (89.7) in Somerset/Campbellsville; WKPB-FM (88.9) in Henderson/Owensboro; WKUE-FM (90.9) in Elizabethtown/Bardstown; and online at http://www.wkyufm.org/

• Athletics: Four WKU Teams Receive NCAA Public Recognition Awards: A record-high four Hilltopper and Lady Topper athletic teams were honored on Wednesday for their success in the classroom as volleyball, men's cross country, women's golf and women's tennis received NCAA Academic Performance Program Public Recognition Awards for having a multiyear Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores in the top 10 percent nationally through the 2016-17 academic year.
• Men’s golf: Sargent Concludes Tops' First NCAA Regional Trip in a Decade: WKU golfer Billy Tom Sargent wrapped up a standout season Wednesday with a final-round 76 in the NCAA Kissimmee (Fla.) Regional. Sargent finished tied for 70th with a three-day, 11-over tally of 227 (78-73-76) at the par-72, 7,154-yard Reunion Resort Watson Course.
• Baseball: Thurston Leads WKU Into Final C-USA Series at FAU: Hoping to dodge raindrops in The Sunshine State, WKU Baseball will play Florida Atlantic in a three-game set to cap the regular season. The Hilltoppers and Owls face off today, Friday and Saturday, with the game times (in CT) at 3 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and noon, respectively.

• Ruby Lewis lands role in Las Vegas 'Marilyn Monroe' musical: The iconic Marilyn Monroe said "diamonds are a girl's best friend," but perhaps that's because she never met Ruby. Ruby Lewis is set to star in “Marilyn! The New Musical” in Las Vegas. After attending WKU as a Performing Arts major, Lewis went on to win roles with national touring companies performing in "Gypsy," "Grease," "Jersey Boys" and "We Will Rock You."
• Graduation marks start of new chapter for WKU students: Red towels were waving Monday night inside Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center at John Hardin High School as WKU students celebrated their graduation.
• WKU Owensboro graduates 330: Many juggle work, classes and family: On Monday evening, about an hour before the WKU Owensboro class of 2018 received their diplomas, Lisa Husk was waiting calmly backstage with two of her daughters.

• Distinguished alumnus and award-winning musician Larnelle Harris (’69) celebrates his musical career in new autobiography: Lyrics and songs by WKU alumnus Larnelle Harris of Louisville, Ky., have hit the right notes for more than five decades in a career that has been full of praise. Spheres of influence is the main theme of Harris’ new book, Shaped Notes: How Ordinary People with Extraordinary Gifts Influenced My Life and Career, which became a number-one best-seller on Amazon within a week of its release in February.
