WKU News
- WKU wins 2018 Hearst overall national championship: WKU’s School of Journalism & Broadcasting has won its fourth overall national championship in the Hearst Journalism Awards Program. WKU placed first overall after winning the Hearst Intercollegiate Multimedia Competition and the Hearst Intercollegiate Photojournalism Competition and finishing fifth in the Hearst Intercollegiate Writing Competition.
- 4 WKU students awarded Freeman-ASIA scholarships: Four WKU students will study abroad this summer through support from the Freeman Awards for Study in Asia (Freeman-ASIA). Andrew Lambdin of London, Nathaniel Lambdin of London and Reuben Tang of Glasgow will study abroad at the Intensive Chinese Language Program at National Taiwan University. Robert Myers of Louisville will study abroad through the Princeton in Beijing intensive language program. All four recipients are students in the Chinese Flagship Program at WKU.
- Follow the WKU storm chasers: WKU students are participating in the ninth annual storm chase course during the May term. For updates, follow the group’s blog posts or @wkustormchase on Twitter.
- Follow the Bike4Alz riders: WKU students are making the sixth Bike4Alz cross country ride to raise money for Alzheimer’s research. For updates on social media, follow Bike4Alz on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. More: Bike4Alz Support Vehicle Fundraiser
- WKU Chorale in Costa Rica: Members of the WKU Chorale are in Costa Rica. For updates, follow WKU Choral Activities on Facebook or WKU Faculty-Led Study Abroad on Twitter.
- WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU's Public Radio can be heard on WKYU-FM (88.9) in Bowling Green/Glasgow; WDCL-FM (89.7) in Somerset/Campbellsville; WKPB-FM (88.9) in Henderson/Owensboro; WKUE-FM (90.9) in Elizabethtown/Bardstown; and online at http://www.wkyufm.org/

- Track & Field: WKU Set to Compete in 13 Events at the NCAA East Preliminaries: Sixteen WKU representatives will travel to Tampa, Fla., this week to compete in 13 events at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminary Round. The meet will be held at the USF Track and Field Stadium today through Saturday and will be streamed by FloTrack.
- Athletics: WKU Posts High Marks in NCAA Annual Progress Report: As one of Conference USA's leaders in NCAA Public Recognition Awards, it is fitting that WKU would also serve as one of the league's leaders in the Annual Progress Report which was released by the organization on Wednesday.
- Track & Field: McIntyre, Seged Earn C-USA All-Academic Accolades: WKU Track and Field student-athletes Morgan McIntyre and Maor Seged were named to the 2018 InTouch Credit Union Conference USA Track & Field All-Academic Team, announced by Conference USA on Wednesday.
- Football: Countdown to Kickoff: May 23 marked 100 days until the 2018 season kickoff for the 100th season of WKU Football, and each day this summer, WKU Athletics will treat fans to unique and interesting history of Hilltopper Football, from never-before-seen photos to game tickets and programs and everything in between, all leading up to an August 31 season kick off.

- Scaling Data Science Without Data Scientists: Dr. Lily Popova Zhuhadar, Associate Professor of Information Systems at WKU, runs an annual data science competition for her WKU students, using RapidMiner Studio to analyze data for a variety of use cases including customer churn, marketing segmentation, financial risk modeling, and cross selling.
- Duke Talent Identification Program recognizes Kentucky students: At Diddle Arena on Wednesday afternoon, the Center for Gifted Studies hosted the Kentucky recognition ceremony for the Duke Talent Identification Program.
