• Baker Foundation commits $10 million endowment for scholarships: The Jerry E. Baker Foundation, established through the estate of Jerry E. Baker, a generous longtime supporter of WKU, has pledged a $10 million endowment for student scholarships.
• SKyTeach master teacher receives national UTeach award: Rico Tyler, master teacher with WKU’s SKyTeach program, received the Outstanding Master Teacher Award this week at the 2018 UTeach Conference in Austin, Texas.
• Academically talented 7th-graders honored at Duke TIP ceremony: Academically talented seventh-graders from throughout Kentucky were honored by the Duke Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP) May 23 at WKU.
• CMP Bingocize® Project Receives Additional Funding: Bingocize®, an evidence-based health promotion program that combines exercise and the game of Bingo, to improve the quality of life for nursing home residents, has been approved to receive an additional $126,215 in Civil Money Penalty (CMP) funding from the Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.  This additional CMP funding brings the total awarded monies to over $900,000 to support the CMP Bingocize® Project. This funding will allow the expansion of the existing Bingocize® project to include five additional nursing homes in eastern and northern Kentucky and two additional university partners.
• View From the Hill: Beulah Winchel Education Library: An educator whose career spanned many decades, schools and continents has a library named in her honor on WKU’s campus. WKU's Amy Bingham has more on Breckinridge County native Beulah Winchel in the View from the Hill.
• WKU professor says Trump's cancellation of summit no surprise: The cancellation of a U.S.-North Korea summit by U.S. President Donald Trump is no major surprise, according to Timothy Rich, associate professor of Political Science at WKU.
• Students Complete First Human Resource Management Certificate at WKU Glasgow Campus: Adult learners within the Glasgow region recently completed their Certificate in Human Resource Management at the WKU Glasgow Campus.
• Follow the WKU storm chasers: WKU students are participating in the ninth annual storm chase course during the May term. For updates, follow the group’s blog posts or @wkustormchase on Twitter.
• Follow the Bike4Alz riders: WKU students are making the sixth Bike4Alz cross country ride to raise money for Alzheimer’s research. For updates on social media, follow Bike4Alz on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. More: Bike4Alz Support Vehicle Fundraiser

• WKU Public Radio Weekday Newscast Schedule: Tune into WKU Public Radio for national and international news from NPR, and local newscasts every half hour during Morning Edition (4-9 a.m. Central), and All Things Considered (3-6 p.m. Central), as well as local news features and interviews produced by the WKU news staff. WKU Sports

• Track & Field: Alexandre, Gates, Terrell Advance to Quarterfinals at NCAA East Regional: WKU had three representatives post qualifying times on the first day of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field East Regional. Hilltoppers Oliver Alexandre and Kymari Gates and Lady Topper Ariel Terrell each qualified for the quarterfinals of their individual events to be run today.
• Volleyball: Incoming Class Attracts National Recognition: Still more than two months out from the 2018 season, WKU Volleyball's incoming freshman class is already receiving national attention after being named one of the Highest Honorable Mention units by PrepVolleyball.com. Head coach Travis Hudson and his staff reloaded the Lady Topper squad with four new student-athletes set to arrive on The Hill this fall including: Payton Frederick, Ashley Hood, Katie Isenbarger and Lauren Matthews.

• Taywan Taylor has a lot to prove in 2018: Second-year receiver Taywan Taylor is expected to have a bigger role in Tennessee’s new look offense in 2018. Drafted out of WKU in the 3rd round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Taylor caught 16 passes for 231 yards and a touchdown in his rookie season, while also running eight times for 43 yards.
