- Library Special Collections granted accreditation status by Kentucky Oral History Commission: WKU’s Manuscripts and Folklife Archives, a part of the Department of Library Special Collections, was recently granted accreditation status by the Kentucky Oral History Commission (KOHC). Archives that receive accreditation serve as “permanent repositories for oral history collections, which KOHC sponsors through grant awarded funds.” With its newly appointed status, the Folklife Archives joins a group of state-recognized institutions dedicated to the long-term care, preservation, and maintenance of regionally-specific oral history projects.
- Xposure Workshop provides immersive journalism experience for high school students: Twelve students from as far away as the state of Washington arrived at WKU Saturday for the nine-day Xposure High School Journalism Workshop coordinated by WKU Student Publications and the School of Journalism and Broadcasting. Originally called the Urban Journalism Workshop, then Minority Journalism Workshop, in its 35th year, Xposure focuses on creating an in-depth journalism experience for students from an array of backgrounds.
- Third-Year Campers Share Some of Their Favorite SCATS Things: SCATS is celebrating its 36th year this summer — and 11 campers are celebrating their third year of SCATS! Erika Solberg of The Center for Gifted Studies caught up with these veteran campers on their first day of class to see what has kept them coming back, and what they’re looking forward to this year. - Traffic advisory: Portion of Virginia Garrett Loop Closed: Due to ongoing construction at Grise Hall, a portion of Virginia Garrett Loop (side next to Grise Hall) will be closed through Friday while a crane is set up in the area.

- Football: Countdown to Kickoff – 100 Days of Hilltopper History: WKU Football will kick off its 100th season on August 31, and each day this summer, WKU Athletics is treating fans to unique and interesting history of Hilltopper Football, from never-before-seen photos to game tickets and programs and everything in between.

- Two-week summer camp for gifted middle school students at WKU: A camp at WKU, called the Summer Camp for Academically Talented Middle School Students, kicked off this week. With 120 middle school students from across the state and even outside of it, the camp is two weeks long. Students can choose from 22 different classes ranging from arts and humanities to mathematics and science.
- Credit to C-USA for trying to catch committee's attention: Conference USA might as well try something new. C-USA has turned into a one-bid league for the NCAA Tournament, and its representative each year has been buried down the seed line. C-USA announced last month a new men’s basketball scheduling format designed to catch the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee’s attention.
