- WKU Institute for Rural Health Receives $50,000 Grant: The WKU Institute for Rural Health (IRH) in the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) received a $50,000 grant from the Good Samaritan Foundation Inc., a ministry of the Kentucky Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. IRH Director, Dr. Matt Hunt, will serve as the project director for this grant of which he also authored.
- WKU faculty members receive ACLS Project Development Grants: WKU faculty members Audra Jennings and Alexander Olson are among the inaugural recipients of the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) Project Development Grants.
- WKU Alum's cartoons exhibited in Special Collections: A new exhibit containing editorial cartoons and other memorabilia related to WKU alumnus Bill “Whitey” Sanders has opened in the Jackson Gallery on the second floor of the Kentucky Building. Titled That 70s Show: The Editorial Cartoon of Bill Sanders, the exhibit features nearly 30 Sanders cartoons from WKU’s Department of Library Special Collections. - New Adventure Course Offered at WKU Elizabethtown-Ft. Knox: Through a partnership with Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, WKU will bring the ROTC program to the Hardin County area. Beginning this fall, any ECTC or WKU student can register for MIL101, an introductory course that teaches mountaineering operations and leadership. The course is open to any major and has no registration restrictions.

- Football: Linebacker Eli Brown Granted Immediate Eligibility for 2018: Incoming WKU Football linebacker Eli Brown will be eligible for competition in 2018 after the NCAA approved a waiver request for immediate eligibility. A Warren East High School graduate in 2015, Brown enters the campaign as a redshirt junior in athletic standing, and will have two years of eligibility remaining after transferring from the University of Kentucky.
- Women’s basketball: Lady Toppers Announce 2018-19 C-USA Regular Season Slate: WKU Lady Topper Basketball will face a 16-game slate in regular season C-USA action, including eight matchups inside E.A. Diddle Arena, in the upcoming 2018-19 season as announced by the conference office on Friday morning. Under first-year Head Coach Greg Collins, the two-time defending C-USA Tournament champions are set to open conference play inside Diddle Arena on Thursday, Jan. 3 against Charlotte. As has been the case since WKU became a member of the league in 2014-15, C-USA league matchups will be played primarily on Thursdays and Saturdays.
- Men’s basketball: Hilltoppers to Face Valparaiso to Open Myrtle Beach Invitational: WKU Hilltopper Basketball will open play in November's Myrtle Beach Invitational with its first-ever matchup against Valparaiso, the tournament announced Wednesday. The Hilltoppers are set to face Valpo at 4 p.m. CT November 15 at the HTC Center on the campus of Coastal Carolina in Conway, S.C. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
- Football: Countdown to Kickoff – 100 Days of Hilltopper History: WKU Football will kick off its 100th season on August 31, and each day this summer, WKU Athletics is treating fans to unique and interesting history of Hilltopper Football, from never-before-seen photos to game tickets and programs and everything in between.

- HOMETOWN HERO: Bike4Alz is getting closer to finishing cross-country journey: They bike for one goal: to beat Alzheimer's. "Alzheimer's is just a terrible disease," said Seth Chaney. "It's just awesome that we can do it for that." Since 2010, WKU students from the Phi Gamma Delta chapter have traveled across the country to raise awareness and money for Alzheimer's Disease; 13 WKU students began the summer-long journey in May, starting in San Francisco with the goal of ending in Virginia Beach for a total of roughly 3,600 miles.
- 'This is your shot:' Eckels ready to finally start for Hilltoppers: Drew Eckels waited four seasons for his chance to be WKU’s starting quarterback.
